Reconstruct Bag no. 3
This bag is a one-of-a-kind piece shaped by history and material transformation. The main body is crafted from original German postal sacks dating back to before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The fabric carries visible traces of use, faded markings, and a distinct patina that cannot be replicated, making each bag a genuine historical artifact.
A vertical red leather stripe runs across the front, adding a strong visual contrast while reinforcing the bag’s structure. This leather element introduces a contemporary accent that deliberately intersects with the aged textile, bridging past and present through material dialogue.
The elongated form offers a generous main compartment with ample volume, suited for everyday use as well as extended carry. The construction remains intentionally raw, with exposed seams and reinforced details that highlight the bag’s handcrafted and utilitarian nature.
The adjustable strap is made from repurposed materials, continuing the bag’s functional and industrial character. Each metal element and stitch serves a purpose, reflecting durability, repair, and reuse rather than ornament.
This piece stands as a quiet document of time — reclaimed materials reassembled into a functional object that carries history forward through design.
