Daylight Dress No. 8 is part of a limited series of individually handcrafted dresses. All ten pieces share a common construction while each garment develops its own identity through the combination of contrasting fabrics, color fields and structural composition.
This piece is defined by a clear horizontal division between upper and lower sections. The top features a vibrant striped fabric in pink, yellow, white and dark tones, creating a rhythmic and graphic surface. The stripes introduce movement and energy, giving the upper part a more expressive character.
In contrast, the lower section is constructed from a muted olive-green fabric. This calmer, more grounded tone stabilizes the overall composition and gives the dress a balanced visual weight. The transition between the two areas is deliberately visible, emphasizing the idea of assembled materials rather than a continuous surface.
The sleeves are constructed from different fabrics, adding another layer of asymmetry. One sleeve appears in a light, almost neutral tone, while the other introduces a darker contrast. Both are finished with deep red cuffs, creating a subtle connection to the tones within the striped upper section.
The neckline is wide and clean, allowing the structured composition of the garment to remain the primary focus. The back contrasts further with a solid dark blue upper section, shifting the visual perception of the dress depending on the angle.
The silhouette is slightly fitted, following the natural line of the body while remaining comfortable and wearable. The straight cut keeps the piece grounded despite its complex surface composition.
