The Vessel Bag Collection is a limited series of ten individually handcrafted shoulder bags. All ten pieces share the same construction and overall design language, while each bag differs through its combination of 1970s denim, leather and cotton.
A central design element of the collection is the horizontally banded body. Each bag is assembled from parallel courses of salvaged material that run across the front and continue around the sides, so the seam lines rather than any print carry the pattern. The body widens from a narrow opening towards a broad base, giving the bag its rounded, vessel-like volume.
This particular piece is the boldest of the collection. A vertical column of black leather runs down the centre of the front, crossed by a red zip and topped by a bright red leather tab on the flap, with grey-green denim to either side and a black border around the whole body. The logo is stitched in gold on the black leather. Two black buttons close the flap. Red, black and gold on washed grey denim gives the piece an almost graphic, poster-like front.
The bag sits flat against the body and can be worn long across the chest or shortened to sit at the hip. The strap adjusts through a metal ring, and the wide base gives the bag its volume without adding bulk.
